Nanostructure Engineering of Porous and Two-Dimensional Materials for Energy-Efficient Separation, Adsorption, Storage and Antimicrobial Applications
Our Research Laboratory is housed in the School of Engineering at the University of Edinburgh, UK. We aim to develop innovative nanofabrication methodologies for smart and functional porous materials based on a thorough understanding of their growth mechanisms. We use advanced characterizations and nanotechnologies to understand and engineer their nanostructures, compositions, and surface properties to address challenging issues in many industrially important processes, such as membrane separation, gas storage, carbon capture, water desalination and purification. Our team specializes in synthesising and functionalizing 2D & 3D nanoporous materials, including zeolites, metal-organic frameworks, graphene-based materials, and MXenes. Our research has been strengthened by substantial industrial interactions.

Our paper entitled "New two-dimensional metal-organic monoacid framework (MOmAF): realization of extreme water repellence" has been accepted by Small. In this work, for the first time, we reported a new class of Metal-Organic Monoacid Frameworks (MOmAFs). For example, Zinc-Organic Monoacid Framework-OA (ZOmAF-OA) with extreme water repellence, water and chemical stabilities was synthesized using two different methods. This is a pioneering work on 2D MOmAFs. Many Congrats!
