Welcome to the Huang Group of Advanced Applied Materials & Interfaces

Nanostructure Engineering of Porous and Nanosheet Materials
for Energy-Efficient Separation, Catalysis, and Drug Delivery
Our Research Laboratory is housed in the School of Engineering at the University of Edinburgh, UK. We aim to develop innovative fabrication methodologies for smart & functional porous materials based on a thorough understanding of their nanostructures and growth mechanisms. We use advanced fabrication techniques and nanotechnologies to investigate and engineer their nanostructures, compositions, and surface properties to address challenging issues in many industrial processes. More specifically, our team specializes in the synthesis and functionalization of 2D & 3D nanoporous materials (e.g., zeolites, metal-organic frameworks, graphene-based materials, MXenes) for energy-efficient membrane separation, advanced gas storage, carbon capture and water desalination, and purification. Our research is strengthened by substantial industrial interactions.
